בהמשך לאירוע ההשקה הפומבי, שקיימנו בנובמבר 2009, נקיים השנה בשיתוף עיריית לוד והאיחוד האירופי, בערבי חמישי ה- 14, 21 ו- 28 באוקטובר השנה, פרויקט חוצות מיוחד במינו במתחם העיר העתיקה תחת הכותרת "לילות קסומים בלוד העתיקה". האירועים יחלו בסביבות השעה 18:00 ויסתיימו ב- 23:00.

באירועים, נגלה לקהל הרחב את הפנים היפות והמאירות של לוד, את אנשיה ואת המבנים וקסמיה של העיר העתיקה.

אנו מחפשים לאירועים אומנים ויוצרים מלוד: נגנים, מוסיקאים, שחקנים, רקדנים, אומני מיצג, אומנים פלסטיים, מספרי סיפורים, אומני רחוב ויוצרים בינתחומיים, שייטלו חלק באירועים.

בתחום המוסיקה, ייבחנו ההצעות על ידי ועדה אומנותית המורכבת מהזמרים דיוויד ברוזה ומירה עוואד, המוסיקאי והמלחין סאז, מייסד להקת "הדורבנים" אייל מזיג, ומנהל ביה"ס למוסיקה "רימון", עמיקם קימלמן.

בשאר התחומים, ינהל את הבחירה המפיק והמנהל האומנותי של האירוע, מר ג'קי בכר.

ביקור מנכ"ל משרד רוה"מ ומזכיר הממשלה בלוד

ב 29.4 סיירו מנכל משרד ראש הממשלה ומזכיר הממשלה חצי יום בלוד על מנת לבחון איך משרד ראש הממשלה יכול לסייע לעיר. הסיור התמקד בעיר העתיקה ובשכונת הרכבת. בתמונות מנכ"ל משרד ראש הממשלה, מר אייל גבאי, מזכיר הממשלה, מר צבי האוזר, מר ירום אריאב, מנכל האוצר לשעבר שהביאם לעיר, יור הועדה הקרואה, מר אילן הררי ובכירי העיריה ואביב וסרמן, מנכ"ל הקרן.

Preparing for the meeting of funds and local organizations in Lod:

During April and with the air of spring and new beginnings, a unique meeting will take place in Lod, acquainting representatives of Israeli and international funds, with local initiatives in various areas, lead by residents of Lod. The participants will tour the town, will receive information on the Lod Foundation and its activities, and will meet with the frontrunners of the local initiatives. The purpose of this get-together is to sharpen and improve the procedures of interface between the fund for the development of Lod and the heads of the Israeli and international funds active in Israel, as well as enhancing the ties with representatives of the participating diplomatic community. A "callout voice" to the organizations and associations active in Lod which wish to participate in the meeting will shortly be issued.

Jan. 27, 2010:

Preparations for the 1^st meeting of the board of trustees of the fund for the development of Lod:

In order to achieve its goals, the fund is establishing a "board of trustees", participating members being heads of the local and country-wide business sector, and of business people from abroad, as well as public figures from Israel and world wide. Recent joiners to the board of trustees are, Mr. Yarom Ariav, until recently general manager of the Israel ministry of finance, Ms. Daniel Biderman, of France, who is a long term contributor to the "Yad Rachel" association in Lod, Rabi David Rosen, one of the frontrunners of global inter-religion dialog, and the former Israeli government minister, currently vice to the president of the Inter-Disciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya, Professor Amnon Rubenstein.

Opening of the program for the education of English - "Yes We Can":

In January the program "Yes We Can" for the tuition of English to residents of Lod was launched. The program, initiated by the fund for the development of Lod, is aimed at improving the level of English of residents of Lod, of members of communities who are interested in doing so, both school students and adults.

In the next months a "pilot" will be started in 7 locations in town - 2 elementary schools, 2 high schools and 3 centers for adults, which will be followed by a widened activity in additional locations. We would much appreciate English fluent volunteers who are able to arrive and teach English to students and adults, at a rate of an hour and a half weekly. Also, due to the financial shortage of Lod's municipality and residents, a modest monetary contribution to the subsistence of the program from anyone able is very welcome.

Setting up of a Businesses-Community Forum in Lod:

The "Leumi" bank, which is the largest employer in Lod, will host a meeting for the founding of the Businesses-Community forum, planned for April 2010, immediately after Passover. The aim of the forum is to connect between the businesses and companies active in Lod, especially those in the industrial zone, and the needs of the city and the initiatives of residents in various areas of endeavor.

The foundation's public launching event:

Following a period of about a year of studying the city and its residents, the crystallizing of the vision and the joining of the fund's initial partners, the public event of launching of the fund and its vision took place on the 18th of November 2009. Hundreds of young and adult Lodians participated in the event, under the conducting of the producers of the event Yaron Harel and Mira Marziano. The event included visiting of "open houses" of Lodian families who told their story - a veteran Arabic family, a Jewish family which arrived in town in 1948, a home that told the story of Ethiopian newcomers, and a home that showed the activities of the religious scholars core group of the town. The hundreds of guests of the event, ministers, religious leaders, frontrunner business people, diplomatic staffs, funds' managers, media correspondents, municipality representatives and residents, continued to a tour of the old city, and from there to the main event in the hall of culture. The event included an ethnic food festival, an exhibition of photographs of Lod (archive photographs as from 1903, alongside contemporary photographic art by residents, all curated by Alex Loubeck, winner of the Israel prize for photography), and dance and music performances with singer David Broza. Minister Avishai Brawerman, Mayor-assigned Ilan Harrari and representatives of the various communities in Lod congratulated the event comers, and representatives of the Lod foundation presented the foundation's vision.
